Getting Started
Volunteering at the Historical Society is a great way to meet other interesting people and further the important work of collecting, preserving and disseminating the history of Carlton County.
If you are interested in any of the following opportunities or would like to be added to our volunteer email list, please call 218-879-1938, email info@carltoncountyhistory.org, or fill out the volunteer form below!
All positions described below require a careful and mindful approach. We are handling irreplaceable objects and files that need to remain cared for and organized.

What to Expect
Once you fill out the Volunteer form or contact us, We will schedual a time to meet you. All new volunteers will be given a tour of the building and some contact and saftey information. Each volunteer will receive training on their position. After that, you make your own schedual and let us know when you are comming in. You will always have a staff member present for questions.

In August 2026 alone, CCHS volunteers put in 87 collective hours of work. Volunteers help our small staff with day to day tasks, hosting events, organizing, cleaning, and everything inbetween. We are so grateful for all the time and effort! Volunteers make everything we do possible.
