The Carlton County Citizen Historian Award is a new joint endeavor intended to promote awareness of and engagement in history as an agent of community building. Three award categories will be rotated each year to recognize the important roles community members can play in creating community connection and cohesion by activating local history.
All Carlton County residents ages 12+ are eligible to be nominated. One awardee per year will be chosen to receive a $500 cash prize and announced at a public awards ceremony.
The History Sparks award is given to Carlton County residents who help spark curiosity about the people and places in our community. This can include people who teach local history, write or create art/media about local history, and/or tell stories about local history to neighbors, family, and friends.
Nominate a community member by responding to the questions below. Nominations close December 3rd. The selected awardee will receive notice by December 10th.
